Ansel hid until he and his men were gone, then ran. She met an Ironteeth witch (who did not eat her), who took care of Ansel and sent her to the Silent Assassins. Meets Celaena when they are both training with the Silent Assassins in the Red Desert. Gave Lord Berick inside information about the assassins and the keep to help him destroy the Silent Assassins, in exchange for an army to help her take back Briarcliff. She fought Celaena, Celaena beat her but allowed her to leave instead of killing her. 

Assassin King of Rifthold who rescued and trained Celaena to become an assassin. He beat her and sent her to the Red Desert as punishment after she ruined a slave trade agreement for him. He later arranged to have Sam killed and Celaena imprisoned, but only after he broke Celaena down as much as he could. 

Melisande business man. Leighfer's ex-husband who Celaena is hired to assassinate in her last job for Arobynn.

Weaponsmaster and palace guard who trains the competitors in the running for King's Champion. 

Originally from Terassen. Trained by the Assassin King Arobynn Hamel. Ruined a slave trade agreement between Arobynn and the Pirate Lord and freed the slaves. Was beaten by Arobynn and sent to the Red Desert and the SIlent Assassins as punishment. Trained with the Mute Master and saved him (and his son) from being killed by Lord Berick's forces. Unmasked Ansel as Berick's informant but allowed her to leave instead of killing her. Fell in love with Sam and paid both of their debts to Arobynn, leaving the keep and moving in with Sam with the hopes to leave Rifthold together. Arobynn arranged to have Sam killed, Celaena was captured trying to avenge his death and was sent to the salt mines of Endovier. 

Madam who has Lysandra in her servitude. 

Crime Lord of Rifthold killed by Celaena Sardothien after his second in command killed her boyfriend, Sam.

When Celaena was caught, he did not allow her to be seen during her trial and sentenced her in a closed session. Sent her to the salt mines of Endovier. 

Melisande business woman. Doneval's ex-wife who hires Celaena to assassinate Doneval because he is trying to get into business in the slave trade. Betrayed Celaena, it was actually her who was getting into the slave trade. Bought Celaena's Asterion mare, Kasida.

Lord in the Red Desert in charge of the city of Xandria, who tries to kill the Mute Master and get rid of the SIlent Assassins. Works with Ansel for inside information.

A courtesan and an irritant to Celaena. Arobynn bids on and wins her "bidding", when men bid on taking her virginity. 

Dance master who trained Celaena how to dance, even agreeing to continue her tutelage after she broke from Arobynn. 

Legendary assassin, leading the order of the Silent Assassins in the Red Desert. Gave Celaena the money to pay off her debts to Arobynn. 

Pirate Lord with a magic tattoo on his hands that changes with the seas and shows him storms and treasures. Running Skull's Bay. Celaena forces him to swear an oath not to deal in slaves ever again, and to punish anyone that is. 

Second in command to Rifthold's crime lord Ioan Jayne. Came up with a plan to have Ioan killed while also getting rid of Celaena and Sam for Arobynn. He killed Sam and turned Celaena over to the authorities.

Deceased

Another of Arobynn's assassin, who helped Celaena to free the slaves in Skull's Bay and assassinate Doneval. They fell in love and began dating, Celaena paid back both of their debts to Arobynn and the two started to live together, with a dream of leaving Rifthold. Arobynn set Celaena and Sam up, Sam was killed while Celaena was caught and sent to the Endovier salt mines.

Personal bodyguard to Arobynn who was quite fond of Sam. He tried to warn Celaena that trying to avenge Sam's death by killing Ioan Jayne and Rourke Farran was a trap, but she did not listen and ended up being caught and send to the salt mines of Endovier. 

Healer that Celaena met on her way to the Red Desert, while Yrene worked in a pub. Planning to travel to the Southern Continent to train with the Torre Cesme.
