Threshing Day by Rebecca Yarros

Threshing Day was not the book that everyone was hoping for when we found out that Rebecca Yarros was going to be publishing a book in the Empyrean series, but I am not disappointed at all. A set of short stories that gives us a closer look at our favorite characters that we've met in the three previously published books, and detailing how those characters found their own dragons. It deals with bullying, death, gore, blood, grief, murder, fire injury (from dragons), abandonment, and injury.
This is going to be a short one. I was going through a bit of a reading slump due to how disgustingly busy I've been lately, something really needs to catch my attention in order to hold onto it for any length of time. But I forced myself to pace myself when it came to Threshing Day. It got me excited again for the next Empyrean book, whenever that will be coming out (no pressure Rebecca, I'm willing to wait for it). I loved getting to see the inner workings of not only my favorite characters but their dragons as well. There was more substance to this book than I expected and a couple secrets have been revealed! Things I learned: sassiness is a trait of all dragons and they're more sentimental than they would have you believe.
I'm giving Threshing Day by Rebecca Yarros 4.5 stars out of 5. There's no spice whatsoever, this is a keep your wits about you life or death situation. Don't skip it!

They didn't eat anything in this book, so I'm bringing back my favorite recipe from the other Empyrean novels: an orange cocktail inspired by our hate of Jack Barlowe. A smoky spiced orange cocktail.
My favorite quotes:
"'I will choose you every day until your death or your demise.'"
"'We are about to have words!' I shout at her, lifting my finger."
"'...you will never be alone again. You will never see another sunrise where I am not waiting for you.'"
