Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp. butter

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1/4 c. water

  • 1-1/4 c. oil

Filling

  • 3/4 c. Pecorino cheese, cubed

  • 1/2 lemon, zested

Topping

  • 1/2 tbsp. honey

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, water, and butter. 

  2. Knead for 5 minutes. If dough is too dry, add a bit more water and knead again. 

  3. Cover the bowl with the towel and set aside for 20 minutes.

  4. Roll the dough until less than a 1/4" thick and use a glass or a cookie cutter to cut 6 round sections about 2-1/2" in diameter. 

  5. Take one of the round pieces of dough and place several pieces of cheese and a punch of zest in the center. 

  6. Place a second wrapper on top and seal the outside with a fork. Repeat 2 more times. 

  7. Heat oil in a frying pan. 

  8. Place the dumplings in the pan and fry on medium to low heat for 3 minutes on each side, or until each side is golden. 

  9. Place a piece of paper towel on top of a plate.

  10. Remove dough from the oil and place on paper toweled plate.

  11. Drizzle with honey before serving.
