Treacle Tart

Equipment:

  • measuring cup

  • measuring spoon

  • zester

  • 9" pie plate

Ingredients

  • 1 9" pie crust pastry

  • 1 c. golden syrup

  • 1/4 c. heavy cream

  • 1 c. bread crumbs

  • 1 lemon zested

  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. 

  2. Press the pastry evenly into the bottom and sides of a 9" pie plate.

  3. Mix together the golden syrup, cream, bread crumbs, lemon zest, and lemon juice in a bowl. You may be able to find the golden syrup in a grocery store, but you may have to make your own. You can find a recipe here. 

  4. Pour the filling into the pie crust.

  5. Bake in the oven until filling is just set, about 35-40 minutes. 

  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
