In the Weeds by B K Borison

In the Weeds is the second novel in B K Borison's Lovelight series. I couldn't wait to start it after reading Lovelight Farms, I just wanted Beckett to find his happy. This is my current happy, cozy series, so don't expect much in the way of trigger warnings. It deals with: injury detail. And it's really just a reference.

Evelyn St. James and Beckett Porter had a chance meeting while they were both in Maine for work and it ended in fireworks. The best kind. Repeatedly. But then Evelyn left Beckett sleeping without leaving even a clue as to how to find her. He resigned himself to never seeing her again but he couldn't stop thinking about their incredible weekend together. When Evelyn unexpectedly showed up to Lovelight Farms to showcase them on her social media account, and then left again without a word of goodbye to Beckett, he decided to cut his loses and move on. But now Evelyn is back in Inglewild and Beckett isn't sure what to do. Can he be friends with the woman that haunts him as she tries to reconnect with herself and what makes her happy. It's been a long time since she knew what that was.

As always, the town of Inglewild did not disappoint with its charm and delightful side characters. We get to meet Kelly, the owner of the local B & B, and Beckett's colorful and competitive sisters - who have a violent streak. Beckett was wonderfully grumpy in a protective and warmhearted way. Evelyn was independent, a little snarky, and barely annoying. What more can you ask for? The writing was good, the plot was fun (Beckett finds a duckling), and the ending was happy. There are several romance tropes you can look forward to: opposites attract, one night stand, miscommunication. It was cute and I enjoyed it. A nice lighthearted read with a dynamic main couple, but with several lovely secondary relationships that were just as compelling. Beckett's relationships with his business partners as well as his dad are incredibly heartwarming.

I'm giving In the Woods by B K Borison 4 stars out of 5 with a spice rating of 2. It was fun. It was great as a palette cleanser or as a book you can enjoy without putting too much thought into it (I read it before Christmas when I was incredibly busy). I've already started the third book in the series, I just can't get enough of Inglewild, so look forward to that soon.

Pairs well with oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and knowing that Carter is a beach blonde son of a bitch!
