Business Casual by B K Borison

We are finishing up B K Borison's Lovelight series with Business Casual, the fourth and final book in the series. I'm not going to lie, I'll be sad to move on from Inglewild, but I'm looking forward to her upcoming novel And Now, Back to You which continues the Heartstrings series. Business Casual is a pretty cozy read, although it does deal with a toxic parental relationship.

Nova Porter, youngest sibling of the notorious Porter clan, is back in Inglewild to permanently set up shop. She's opening her very own tattoo parlor and while she's happy to be closer to her family, she is not so crazy about the rampant town gossip. But Inglewild is where she grew up and she feels like she belongs there. Charlie Milford, on the other hand, is desperate to belong to Inglewild - town gossip included. He's been campaigning to be on the phone tree! But his job and his apartment, and presumably his actual life, is in New York City, so he only gets to come to Inglewild occasionally. But for the next month, Charlie is setting up shop in Inglewild to help his sister Stella run Lovelight Farms and he couldn't be happier. Especially when Nova needs to let off a little steam and asks Charlie to help her do it in a casual, no strings, one night stand. But once their one night is over, they can't stop thinking about each other, and Charlie still has the whole month left.

We are back in business after the disaster that was The Pucker-Up Pact! In fact, Business Casual, is my favorite in the whole Lovelight series. We are already familiar with both characters as Nova made her debut in the second novel and Charlie has been around since the very first and I think B K Borison really hit her stride with this novel. It is less cheesy than it's predecessors and gets emotional pretty early on. The characters are very relatable, Charlie with his eagerness to please and Nova with her refusal to ask for help, but they both have more depth to them than just that and they get a decent amount of development. We are already very familiar with the minor players after three previous books, but I love the dynamic between Nova and Beckett in particular and I was grateful for the not at all cliched way that Nova and Charlie's relationship was revealed. That being said, there's still some room for improvement. I would have liked to see a little more growth on Charlie's part. It seems like he gets there in the end, but we don't get to see it which was disappointing.

All in all, I really enjoyed Business Casual by B K Borison and I'm giving it 4.5 stars out of 5 with a spice rating of 2.75. I think it's the best of the Lovelight series and I loved seeing not only the relationship between Nova and Charlie, but especially Charlie while he deals with the Lovelight Farms partners.

Pairs well with chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels and a small tattoo on your wrist you can cover with your watch if you want to.
