Lovelight Farms by B K Borison

B K Borison's debut novel and the first in the Lovelight series, Lovelight Farms was published in 2021. Since then, she has finished the Lovelight series - it has a total of four books; released First-Time Caller, which begins another series - the second novel will be released in early 2026; and her newest book came out in October in time for the Christmas season, perfect for Good Spirits, which is about the ghost of Christmas past. Lovelight Farms deals with abandonment, cancer, grief, and the death of a parent.

Owning a Christmas tree farm is not all peppermint bark and turtle doves like Stella thought it would be. Instead, it involves more strange coincidences, raccoon infestations, and inherited debt. Now, Stella and the farm are drowning but she thinks she's found a way out. Evelyn St. James - a popular influencer hosting a contest for small businesses that will hopefully drum up more business, and the money grand prize would definitely help too. But in an effort to make the farm sound magical and romantic, Stella wrote on her application that she owns the farm with her boyfriend. Now that Evelyn has chosen Lovelight Farms for the competition, Stella has to find a boyfriend... and fast. Enter Stella's best friend, Luka. They've been friends for years and he would never let Stella stress about this if he could help her out. One catch - Stella has been in love with him for years and she's not sure her heart can handle pretending to be his girlfriend.

A cozy romance novel reminiscent of a Hallmark movie just in time for the holidays? Yes, please. I've had this book on my radar for a Christmas season read all year. And I was not disappointed. We've got friends to lovers. We've got a fake relationship. We've got unrequited love - if you ask Stella. Put it together and you've got yourself a recipe to save a Christmas tree farm. The setting was absolutely delightful. The plot was fun and it had a great ending that seemed very realistic. The characters were great and very loveable. In fact, I was so taken by the characters that I immediately picked up the second book. Was it cheesy - yes. Was the town a little too good to be true - absolutely. Did it matter - hard no. I loved every second and had a goofy grin from start to finish. The only things I didn't like was Luka's nickname for Stella and Stella's absolute refusal to see reality.

I'm giving Lovelight Farms by B K Borison 4.5 stars out of 5 with a spice rating of 2.5. It was fun and cozy and had the holiday vibes that I needed.

Pairs well with mocha peppermint brownies and knowing never to drink the mystery wine.

My favorite quotes:

"I've always wanted to be an urban legend."

"You're right, he'd be too happy there. Let's ship him someplace miserable... like Florida."
